I see the autumn leaves are falling.
The Kinks, Autumn Almanac
Steppin’ outside
on an autumn day—
see the trees sway?
or the leaves dance away?
Steppin’ outside
on an autumn day—
see the leaves piled high?
or neighbors rakin’ them
into little hills?
Steppin’ outside
on an autumn day—
see the oranges?
the reds?
the yellows?
each one callin’ your name.
Swirlin’ , twirlin’ , dancin’ ,
Colors leapin’ across the page.
Everywhere you look,
autumn is everywhere.
Steppin outside,
on an autumn day
is like stepping into
an enchanted forest—
capturin’ the whimsy
and the beauty,
before the vibrant colors
start to fade.
The fall,
May you find peace and refuge in the enchanted forest
that lies within your soul.
