Finding God in the Dance
You’re the meaning in my life.
— Chicago

The Rumba became popular in the early 20th century. It’s a dance that moves the hips side to side, keeping the upper body upright. The pattern of two quick side steps and a slow forward step.
The Rumba.
A dance of the heart.
Slow. Intentional.
A gentle ember glowing from a fire.
Two people.
Moving with deep awareness of the other.
The longing.
Like the moment love becomes palatable.
Faith is like the Rumba.
It’s learning to feel the Spirit move you —
in sync, with time, turning, gliding, swaying.
Feeling the pull of God,
not just around you,
but within you.
A gentle nudge.
A desire to draw closer.
Faith. Love. Holy.
A spark ignites.
Chest open.
Arms up.
Your body responding —
With your whole heart.
To God.
To your partner.
In honest, pure delight.
In the Rumba, you glide.
You turn.
You let the music guide you.
You are led — supported.
It is a dance that teaches the body how to lean into love.
Let love find its rhythm and let God lead you in its sacred dance.
Love invites us to celebrate.
To sway to the music in our hearts.
To place our trust in our dance partner.
In the slow. Quick. Quick.
With courage.
With vulnerability.
With a willingness to lead or to be led.
Love connects us to one another.
And faith ignites our souls as one.
But as for me, it is good to be near God.
Psalm 73:28
May your heart awaken to God’s love.
May you find the courage to be tender and honest.
And may every slow‑quick‑quick allow your body to let go and feel the spark ignite.
